Description
Rockastound’s half-brother out of SO YOU THINK (NZ) recently sold as a weanling at NZ Premier Weanling sale for $130 000. Her dam is ASTOUNDED, a Listed winner, and multiple stakes place. Rockastound’s sire is no other that the great FASTNET ROCK who is also providing himself as a successful broodmare sire. Added this this her broodmare sire is ENCOSTA DE LAGO – the combination of FASTNET ROCK and ENCOSTA DE LAGO lines is proving successful with group and listed winners such as EMPRESS ROCK, ROCKER, Lady Sharapova and Falago all bred on this cross. Her female line traces back to GREY FILLE, a mare bred in NZ, imported to Australia and was successful in 4 wins at group level.
She has one foal on the ground – a lovely filly by Moonlark (USA) which has been weaned. I did not put her in foal this season so she is empty and ready for an early cover. With a sound blacktype pedigree she has the genetics to produce winners, and given that a number of her siblings have been imported to NZ to earn top dollars in the sales there, she certainly wound be a great addition to anyone targeting a Trans-Tasman breeding enterprise.
Rockastound won her trial at Coffs Harbour and ran 2nd in Armidale over 1100m.
