Description
4yo gelding RETIRO is being offered for sale to dissolve a large syndicate of owners.
By champion sire, SNITZEL and out of Group 2 winning Encosta de Lago mare, PALACIO DE CRISTAL, this horse is a very striking, big, strong, powerful type. He was purchased for $385,000 as a yearling from Magic Millions with a strong pedigree behind him.
This straightforward gelding has had 2 wins and a placing at country and provincial grade. He made his racing debut in the Breeder’s Plate as a 2yo but has not reached the group’s expectations of making a metropolitan grade horse.
Retiro is one country run from being eligible for highway races having had 2x recent runs under Matthew Dale. He pulled up fine following his last run at Canberra on an unsuitable track surface and has subsequently gone to the paddock for a spell while being advertised for sale.
He is a straightforward horse on the ground and in his ridden trackwork. No vices. Approximately 16.1hh
Note this horse had a fetlock arthroscopy in Jan 2021 and recovered uneventfully.
