For Sale is a share in a Melbourne Cup Qualified Horse in the lightly raced horse named ORMITO: He was a certainty beaten in the Group 2 Adelaide Cup when a close second and has been a horse that has taken a preparation or two to adjust to Australian Racing but has finally settled in as you can see by how well he trialled recently.
As he is qualified for the Melbourne Cup our aim this preparation is to get his rating up higher to ensure he gets a run on the first Tuesday in November.
Darren Weir has always said the first few preparations with this horse where education only and that he expects this spring and next Autumn where the horse will be ‘screwed down” and where we will see a completely different horse to what we have seen so far- largely because the horse has been mentally immature . His an out and out stayer so will resume his racing in the coming weeks over 1800 or 2000m and all focus and roads lead to getting him to run in the 2018 Melbourne Cup all going well
His been a sound and strong horse but mentally immature but Darren reports his going better than ever and we see him as a real stayer who can certainly be competitive in the Melbourne Cup as he loves the distance and this preparation will be the first “proper preparation” he will have as prior these preps have been for education and experience
