A 7yo gelding by GALILEO and a perennial Melbourne Cup runner!

Bondi Beach was a Gr.3 winner at just his third start in Ireland as a 3yo, claiming the 2015 Gr.3 Curragh Cup, defeating world class galloper ORDER OF ST. GEORGE.

Following a subsequent 2nd in the Gr.2 Voltigeur Stakes behind STORM THE STARS, Bondi Beach fought out the finish with SINGLE VERSE in the Gr.1 ST. LEGER. The two horses bumped at least twice in the closing stages and with a head margin between them, SINGLE VERSE was later disqualified, and BONDI BEACH promoted to first.

Bondi Beach first travelled to Australia for a tilt in the 2015 Melbourne Cup as a European three-year-old. As the youngest and most inexperienced horse in the 2015 Melbourne Cup from barrier 18, saw Bondi Beach posted three wide for much of the race and inconvenienced at the 400 metre mark. He finished 16th beaten only 6.2 lengths by PRINCE OF PENZANCE (NZ).

On his return to Europe, O’Brien plotted a path to the 2016 Melbourne Cup. The gelding won at Limerick and Navan and ran 3rd twice at Leopardstown. .

After getting shuffled back on the fence to end up 22nd at 400m mark in the 2016 Melbourne Cup BONDI BEACH (IRE) finished the race off well to finish 13th behind ALMANDIN (GER).

He had two runs in Australia under heavy weights (61kg and 59.5kg) before running in the 2017 Melbourne Cup where he finished at the back of the field.
