Description

***Mare in foal to Rubick. This year yearlings by him have averaged $104,500 and sold for up to $900,000.

***This mare's last two yearlings have sold for $230,000 and $160,000.

Commercial breeders are fully aware it is important to own mares which produce a sales type.

Witwatersrand’s very first foal through the sales ring sold for $240,000 at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale – that sale’s third highest priced filly. While Witwatersrand’s last two yearlings have sold for $230,000 - Grey Khan (colt by Dalakhani at the 2017 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale – equal highest priced yearling by Dalakhani that year) and $160,000 - Van Giz (filly by Written Tycoon at the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast January Sale).

It is also important for your mares to produce quality runners and to date Witwatersrand is the dam of three Metropolitan performers.

Two of her Metropolitan performers both won in excess of $200,000 – Spur on Gold and Gold a Plenty. Her current 3yo Grey Khan ran third on Saturday 13th July at Caulfield and looks well on his way to emulating his half siblings.

Witwatersrand’s 2yo Van Giz is with Bjorn Baker (a master trainer of Written Tycoon’s progeny) and has shown excellent promise in her two Sydney trials to date, running fourth, beaten around one length both times.

Van Giz is back in training. The stable reports she is going well and due to trial around mid-August. Here's a link to the Racing NSW website should you wish to view Van Giz's two trials - https://www.racingnsw.com.au/ Type in Van Giz in Horse Form and click on the Search button.

A strong, correct Star Turn colt (foaled 27 September) was weaned off Witwatersrand earlier this year and is to be offered at next year’s yearling sales.

Witwatersrand sells in foal to the hot first season sire Rubick (by Encosta De Lago). Rubick currently lies in third position on the Australian First Season Sires List for Prize Money ($1.4 million) and Winners (15). At this year’s yearling sales his progeny sold for up to $900,000 and averaged $104,500.

Some of Rubick’s promising runners include the Sydney Group 2 winner Yes Yes Yes, as well as stakes placed performers Rubisaki, Krameric, Alburq and Biscara. He has also had a further 7 Metropolitan winners - Erno (Sydney), Belitsa (Sydney), Andrassy Avenue (Melbourne), Excess Funds (Melbourne), Ruuca (Brisbane), Rubic Rose (Perth) and Montelena (Perth).

Rubick’s service fee jumped from $16,500 to $38,500 this year and he has been booked out for quite some time. It will come as no surprise to witness his service fee rise again, as well as his yearling averages next year and in subsequent future years. He looks destined for great career at stud.

Witwatersrand is in good health and condition and is for genuine sale. A current breeding soundness and pregnancy certificate is attached (completed on 22 July).
