Description
The now 5yo Rip Van Winkle gelding has been lightly raced having only started 5 times. In early 2018 he won a jump out impressively at Cranbourne and then missed the kick at his first start at Ballarat.
He then had one more run in that campaign and then was 12 months off the scene due to an injury last September and resumed in an official trial at Cranbourne in late April beaten 3 lengths behind Grand Dreamer and Malmas.
First up he was ridden against his usual racing pattern at Sale on 14th May 2019. He then went to Seymour and produced his best run being beaten 4.5 lengths at Seymour in a $35,000 2000m Maiden in a reasonable field. Last start he was only fair being beaten 5.5lens at Echuca back in mid June.
The horse is sound and has a good temperament and clearly a staying type. As he has struggled to measure up on the provincial circuit the owners have decided to move him on. He may be ideally suited to the picnics or a jumping career.
