KITTIE KINS is by SEPOY, sire of 3xGr.1 winner ALIZEE as well as NATIVE SOLDER, MARCEL FROM MADRID and DIVINE QUALITY. KITTIE KINS won at the provincial level and placed in the city on 3 separate occasions during her short 8 start career.
KITTIE KINS is out of the great producing mare SALIX CAPREA who is the dam of the ever-consistent multiple Gr.2 winner and Gr.1 placed mare CATKINS. With CATKINS now in the breeding barn and visiting stallions like MEDAGLIA D’ORO you can be sure that there will be some significant updates in this mare’s 1st dam very soon.
KITTIE KINS has been confirmed in foal to the multiple Gr.1 Japanese sprinter BRAVE SMASH. She went straight in-foal off the first cover which gives the lucky purchaser an August foal by a sort after first season sire.
Japan has proved to be one of the most dominant racing hubs in the world. BRAVE SMASH is a large part of why they have this reputation, especially here in Australia. BRAVE SMASH won both the Gr.1 MVRC Manikato Stakes over 1200m and the Gr.1 MRC Futurity Stakes over 1400m to prove he was one of the best sprinters going around. He competed consistently at the top level with a further 4xGr.1 placings as well as a 3rd in the inaugural The Everest. To further emphasis his prospects as a stallion, BRAVE SMASH is the only Japanese bred dual Australian Gr.1 winner to stand at stud in Australia in 2019.
The 2019-2020 racing season has really proved just how dominant a force the Japanese breed is, especially when racing in Australia. We have seen FIERCE IMPACT win the Gr.1 Toorak Handicap, before he went on to dominate a classy field in the Gr.1 Cantala Stakes. LYS GRACIEUX amazed many in the Cox Plate. She won with ease after enduring a tough run, A sure sign that she really did have the field covered easily. MER DE GLACE won the Gr.1 Caulfield Cup in arrogant fashion before then running a very unlucky 6th in the Melbourne Cup. Even outside of the big Gr.1 races, progressive horses like WOLFE and HUSH WRITER have claimed Gr.3 races, while also showing their potential to compete at the highest level in the near future.
Although Australian mares are no stranger to Japan, one of the biggest compliments to the Japanese breeding industry in recent years comes from Fairway Thoroughbreds. VEGAS SHOWGIRL (the dam of the mighty mare WINX) has recently given birth to a very impressive DEEP IMPACT foal. To send one of Australia’s most sort after mares to Japan for a cover, just shows how high the best breeders rate Japanese breeding and racing.
