Description
Race Record, Speed, Toughness, Versatility, Temperament, Group 1 Performer, Consistency, Commercially Mated, Pedigree, Size, Type, Genuine Sale – Platinum Rocker ticks all the boxes.
Platinum Rocker was a proper race mare. She did what good horses do by winning on debut. She then went on to become a multiple stakes winner and amass over $600k in prize money.
She possesses that rare commodity that the Australian yearling buyers most desperately seek on a pedigree page – BLACK TYPE speed. She raced 5 times in 1200m Group and Listed races for a win, two seconds, a third and a fifth.
She travelled about as far as a horse can in Australia and raced in Victoria, Western Australia and Queensland (and in both racing directions). She showed she had the toughness and temperament to take it all in her stride as she was multiple stakes performed in each of the three states she raced in. She was also tough enough to stretch her natural speed out to 1400m where she both won and placed at stakes level and then in her career peak performance she was a brave runner up, beaten only 0.5 length, in the time honoured Group 1 WATC Railway Stakes over 1600m.
She won 8 times and placed a further 8 times in only 24 career starts.
Since retiring to the breeding barn she has produced foals by highly commercial stallions Written Tycoon, Brazen Beau and Toronado. She is currently in foal to Impending ($22,000 service fee) whom many good judges are raving about the quality of his produce.
We have retained her Toronado filly. We have chosen to give her time and she has shown us enough in her early preparations that we are looking forward to racing her as an early 3yo. We also have her Written Tycoon weanling whom is correct, with good strength through the shoulder and a nice walker. Inglis recently inspected him and rated him as an above average type that would be very well suited to the pinhooking market and the select Premier 1 yearling sale.
The foal she is carrying by Impending is being produced on the Lonhro x Danehill sire line cross. This cross has already produced an amazing 10 Group 1 winners. A number that is almost certain to increase given three of those Group 1 winners were victorious in the current racing season: Shadow Hero (Randwick Guineas), Pierata (All Aged Stakes) and Regal Power (WATC Railway Stakes). All three of these had Lonhro as their grand-sire, just like the Impending pregnancy Platinum Rocker carries.
Platinum Rocker’s pedigree includes includes blue hen mare, Eight Carat along with positive speed influences in Danehill, Star Kingdom, Last Tycoon and Pago Pago. Pago Pago was the winner of 9 straight races as a 2yo including the Golden Slipper. He appears in the broodmare pedigree of 36 Group 1 winners from all around the globe, including the immortal European Champion Dancing Brave as well as King Mufhasa (NZL) - 10 G1 wins, Untapable (USA) – 5 G1 wins, Special Harmony (Aus) – 3 G1 wins, Kurofune (Jpn) – 2 G1 wins, The Bostonian (NZL) – 2 G1 wins, Judy the Beauty (Can) – 2 G1 wins, Matto Mondo (Chi) - 2 G1 wins, etc

She has no lameness but we put shoes on both her fronts as a precaution as she is starting to get heavy and also in anticipation of her possibly having a long float trip should she be sold interstate)
