Mare in foal to the hottest stallion in Victoria in SHAMUS AWARD.
Curl Up is a winning half sister to the outstanding race mare CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES out of the Group 1 winning mare SKY CUDDLE. Runner up to Trapeze Artist in the Golden Rose and Alizee in the Flight Stakes, Champagne Cuddles won to Group 2 level at the sprint distances and retired with nearly $1.5m in stakes. She was then sold to Coolmore at the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale for $2m and is now in foal to the American Triple Crown winner Justify. A winner on debut, Curl Up raced only four times before she was retired to stud. She has three foals – her second foal is an unraced 3yo by Star Witness who the Waterhouse/Bott yard paid $280,000 for at the Magic Millions. This is certainly a family on the move.
Cox Plate winner Shamus Award is the leading Victorian stallion on the Premiership table and continues to go from strength to strength as a sire. His stakeswinners this season are headed by the Group 1 Toorak Handicap winner MR QUICKIE and include Coolmore and Lightning place getter SWATS THAT as well as last Saturday’s Flemington Gr 3 Matron Stakes winner SOVEREIGN AWARD.
