Description
Araaja is a breeding proposition that not only covers off everything commercial breeders would want in pedigree but with the added sales ring appeal of being closely related to an out and out fan favourite in TOM MELBOURNE
There are few horse that would show the grit and determination to compete at the top level like TOM MELBOURNE but he is certainly not the only high level performer of the family. Araaja herself is a 4 time winning mare and stakes performed in both hemispheres. Being a Listed winner and placing fourth in a Gr3 in France, Araaja then placed at stakes level on multiple occasions when racing in Australia. She is out of a half sister to Melbourne Cup winner and Champion Australian Stayer FIORENTE who went on to stand at stud.
As a broodmare Araaja has set down a solid commercial foundation with her offspring being well received in the sale ring. Her Pierro filly yearling this year made $140,000 selling through the Inglis Classic sale.
She is being offered in foal to one of the most exciting young stallions in the market in Maurice. In Australia Maurice has sired 7 stakes winners including 2 Group 1 winners, Hitotsu and Mazu. Overall he has sired 18 stakes horses in Australia which equates to 13.2% stakes horses to runners. He is also proving to be a sire that can get early 2YO types with recent 2YO stakes winners Namesake and Azula winning over the Queensland winter carnival.
