Monaco Consul is an 11yo proven sire, by Coolmore Stud's late shuttle stallion High Chaparral, himself the sire of 110 stakes winners to date, including So You Think.
His dam is the unraced Star Way mare Argante, a full sister to Con Air and a half sister to Military Plume. Further down the page is Widden Stud sire Nicconi. The family also includes General Nediym, Horlicks, Brew and Bubble.
Monaco Consul was purchased from the the Windsor Park draft for $100,000 at the 2008 Karaka Premier Sale in NZ.
Trained by Michael Moroney, he broke his maiden at his 3rd start in NZ over 1400m, and in the same preparation, claimed the 2009 G1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick and the G1 Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington the following start. Replays of these wins are attached to this listing.
The following year, Monaco Consul placed in the G1 Australian Derby (2400m) and the G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m). As a Spring 4yo, he ran 3rd in the 2010 G1 Caulfield Cup (2400m), with his final career start in the 2010 Melbourne Cup (3200m) won by Americain.
He was retired to Patinack Farm in 2011 and has spent the past few seasons at the fledgling Kingstar Farm in the Hunter Valley. He has sired 34 individual winners, headlined by TIAMO GRACE who won the G2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) at Flemington (replay attached) and recently returned from a spell to finished runner up at the same track in March. She is nominated for the Sunline Stakes at Moonee Valley this weekend.
His other star filly is Honesta, a runner-up in the G1 Flight Stakes (1600m) and G1 VRC Oaks (2500m) (replay attached) as well as two other Group placings.
His progeny have sold up to $220,000 as yearlings.
