Commercial Quality Young Mare in foal to Kiss and Make Up with a 1 September 2019 service date.
THE DEVIL'S DANCER is a gorgeous mare who stands 16 hands high and in her brief breeding career to date, she has left two high-quality, well-conformed colts. The first colt by WAR has been retained by the owners and the second born colt by the very popular RICH ENUFF will head off to one of the major sales next year. Notably, she is herself a half-sister to the talented Stakes-winning, TORAH. The DEVIL'S DANCER is by AL MAHER who is quickly climbing up the broodmare sire ranks courtesy of the likes of Stakes-winning QUICK THINKER, MIZLECKI, KRONE, RAGGED RASCAL etc.
The DEVIL'S DANCER comes from a Group 1 producing female line. Importantly there is a significant amount of activity occurring under her 1st Dam and as such, this pedigree page stands every chance of a significant upgrade in the not too distant future. Her dam Perisher Valley is still active herself having foaled a VANCOUVER filly in 2018 following on the back of earlier producing a $320k REDOUTE'S CHOICE yearling. This re-emphasises the commercial quality of this family.
TORAH, the SW half-sister to THE DEVIL'S DANCER, is now also a successful broodmare being the dam of the impressive last start winner, Bright Rubick, who had earlier kicked of its racing career by competing in the Group 2 Reisling Stakes as a two-year-old and then in the Group 2 Furious Stakes this year as three year old. TORAH is now in foal to HELLBENT and has a yearling CAPITALIST colt coming through the system. Her 2016 NICCONI colt sold for $180k. Other half-sisters to THE DEVIL'S DANCER and TORAH include Snowy World who had a SMART MISSILE colt sell to Hong Kong for $280k and has a Dundeel yearling colt. Another half-sister is the city-winning Snow Fileds who is in foal to SPIRIT OF BOOM. So all-in-all this is a pedigree which is very much on the move.
Having slipped to BETTER THAN READY earlier this year this gave us the opportunity to try and get THE DEVIL'S DANCER in foal again this breeding season to a very early covering. This was easily achieved and in fact, THE DEVIL'S DANCER went in foal to the very first cover on the very first day of the current breeding season i.e. 1st September 2019. An August 2020 foal by the extremely precocious young sire, KISS AND MAKE UP, should be very appealing in the sales ring or should the owners choose to retain the progeny then an early running 2yo type is hopefully the result.
KISS AND MAKE UP will have his first yearlings sell next year and his current service fee is $11,000. This extremely well-bred entire (MORE THAN READY x FASHIONS AFIELD) won the stallion-making Todman Stakes as an early 2yo easily beating, CAPITALIST and thus being the only juvenile to beat the eventual Champion 2yo of that year. He was retired to stud after just three starts with a 2yo Timeform rating of 120 – higher than Trapeze Artist, Pariah, Flying Artie, Astern, Exosphere, Pride of Dubai, Headwater, and Rubick.
For the pedigree buffs, you will discover that the planned pairing of THE DEVIL'S DANCER with KISS AND MAKE UP has resulted in a highly sought after 20/20 Mating under G1 Stallon Match system. In addition to having the ancestral patterns similar to the Group 1 winners in PRIZED ICON, MORE THAN READY, PERFECTLY READY, DREAMAWAY and BENICIO this mating contains an extra benefit by having a 4 x 5 duplication of the very influential mare in DANCING SHOW.
THE DEVIL'S DANCER is being sold as part of a bloodstock consolidation plan and a very realistic reserve has been set. She has had two positive pregnancy scans on 16/9 and 1/10 and we are happy to guarantee that she will still be safely in foal at 45 days. The mare can be inspected by arrangement and she is located at Aquis Farm in Canungra.
