Description
Lightly raced and well related 4yo gelding by Rip Van Winkle who has placed twice from 11 starts and performed at mid-week city maiden level. Vanderwink is need of a bit of time and patience after pulling up from his second-up run this preparation with high suspensory soreness and mild capsulitis of his right fetlock and is now resting in the paddock on vet advice (see vet report attached which details a good prognosis for racing with sufficient rest).
Leading into his sound first up run, Vanderwink was an impressive trial winner and has always shown ability yet has just taken time to learn how to travel while maturing both mentally and physically.
He's a good sized gelding (approx 15.3hh) with a lovely big action and while he can travel keenly in his work and races, he is easy to do anything with around the stables. He is need of a good 6 to 8 week spell before being reassessed for a return to racing and as such, the majority of owners have voted to sell Vanderwink who will suit a stable that can give him the time he needs and target a slightly easier grade to get his confidence back up. Vet inspections more than welcome.
