Stakes performed juvenile and well related now 4yo mare who is ready to move on to the next phase of her career.
An attractive daughter of Denman, Black Champagne is out of the Multiple Stakes Placed and $260k broodmare purchase PACHANGA (by Redoute’s Choice) and is a half-sister to two winners and full-sister to pre-Christmas 2yo Stakes Placed PIACENZA who’s first foal by All Too Hard realised $260k at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
2nd Dam Foxtrot (by Rory’s Jester) was also a sharp 2yo Stakes Place-getter and is from the family of Stakes Winners ANY RHYTHM, UPBEAT, ALPHA BEAT and SINGAPORE SLING. Black-type under each generation.
Black Champagne was a very sharp 2yo and won impressively on debut as an early Autumn juvenile by a commanding 5.9 Lengths. She then progressed to the Listed Cinderella Stakes at her second career start to run 4th beaten only 2.7 lengths by handy Stakes mares Krone and Humma Humma. She managed to place again at Metropolitan level at her first start back as a Spring 3yo before she succumbed to injury (chip in a fetlock) not long after.
She had surgery to remove the chip and was given time to recover with a good 12 months off the scene however she has unfortunately been unable to return to her best and a decision has been made to retire her and offer her as a breeding proposition for the new season.
Neat and racy mare, approx 15-15.1hh, she’s been spelling now for a month and is just starting to let down in condition. She’ll make a nice addition to any broodmare band.
