Description
Hard Spark (Hard Spun x El Spark) is being offered by renowned boutique breeders Wingrove Park in Lancefield Victoria, the home of six individual stakes winners including Royal Symphony and Fair Trade.
Hard Spark is a sound, well confirmation, easy to handle and strong broodmare prospect for potential breeders and is in foal to a Group 2 winning son of Not a Single Doubt, Squamosa (served 23 October 2019). She is due to foal in mid-September 2020.
This chestnut mare is offered in excellent condition and hails from the proven black-type “Sparks” family. Hard Spark’s dam El Spark (by Elvstroem) was a Group 3 second placegetter in the Auraria Stakes and was a two-time winner from 10 starts. El Spark is a dam of one other foal to race named Catcha Spark (by Skilled) who won by over 4 lengths at Werribee on 7 May, 2020. El Spark's yearling by Brazen Beau sold for $140,000 at the 2019 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale and is in training with Hakwes Racing. El Spark is a half-sister to seven winners including fellow black-type performers Sparks Fly and Sparks Burn. Dual Spark has had one other daughter at Stud who has produced two winners including a recent Hong Kong winner. Progeny from Dual Spark have won a combined 23 races and over $500,000.
On the track Hard Spark was a consistent performer as a four-time winner ranging from 1100-1410 metres and twelve-time placegetter winning $90,000 in stakes earnings racing across Victoria.
Hard Spark has been served by Squamosa who a two-time stakes winner standing at Sun Stud whose foals have sold for up to $140,000. He is the sire of two-time Group 2 winner Kiwi Ida and recent Listed Wangoom Handicap winner Order of Command. This foal has strong line breeding to Danehill and Danzig and has been pedigree matched to succeed on the racetrack.
