Description

The Vancouver x Lady of Spain filly is a lovely well-grown yearling with good size and scope. She is an attractive filly, has a good action and a good temperament. Like champions Danehill, Winx, and Justify, to name a few, this filly is bred on the Rasmussen Factor (5m x 4m Fairy Bridge via the full-brothers Sadlers Wells and Fairy King).

The well-bred Encosta de Lago mare Lady of Spain has four named foals and three are already winners, including this season’s smart Rosehill winner Mrs Madrid who has won over $170,000 to-date, and the 3YO Muleta who broke his maiden at the Gold Coast in March by 2.25L.

This filly’s 2YO full-sister was a $100,000 Inglis yearling purchase in 2019 for Mrs Madrid’s trainer Anthony Cummings and Lady of Spain also has a 2019 filly by European Champion 2YO Churchill on the ground, and she is in-foal to the leading First Season Sire Pride of Dubai, so there is plenty of upside to come from this family.

Lady of Spain herself was a winner over 1300m and is a daughter of Group One Queensland Oaks winner Zagalia, and she is a half-sister to Group Three winner Dawnie Perfect.

This filly’s sire Vancouver is off to an extremely promising start at stud. Vancouver has already sired four Stakes horses (Vangelic, Postcode, Ticket To Ride, Canadian Spice) from his first crop 2YOs and four of his six winners to-date have won at metropolitan level (to put this in perspective, Pierro had two Stakes horses at the same stage of his career, and four winners – two of whom won at metropolitan level).
