Prohibition has been identified by Champion Singapore Trainer, Mark Walker, as an ideal type for Singapore Racing. Now a two year old gelding, Prohibition was originally purchased as a Yearling at the 2019 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for A$675,000 as a Stallion prospect for an Ownership Group comprising the China Horse Club and other high profile owners. Trained by Peter and Paul Snowden in Sydney, he trialed twice in May 2020 for a 4th and a 6th placing and after determining that his trial form indicated that he was not up to Stallion making ability plus the fact that he was very Colty and needed to be gelded, he was put up for sale unreserved – this ownership group have no interest in racing Geldings – they only wish to race Colts.

Fortuna acquired Prohibition at the May Inglis Online Sale. He is now agisting at Shipton Lodge in New South Wales awaiting to enter quarantine ahead of traveling to Singapore early August 2020 – after exiting quarantine in Singapore, he will be prepared to race by Fortuna’s Singapore Trainer Mark Walker and should be ready to have his first race in Singapore November 2020. He has been fully vetted for Singapore and approved for entry into Singapore by the Malaysian Racing Authority. We gelded him as soon as took possession. Vet report attached

As a two year old non winner Prohibition (to whom we have given the stable name “Capone”) will be eligible to contest Restricted Maiden Grade events in Singapore, a Grade which carries S$75,000 of prizemoney (approx. NZ$83,000). Once winning in that Grade, he will then be eligible to race in Novice Grade, a Grade which also carries S$75,000 of prizemoney (approx. NZ$83,000). As a Three Year Old in the 2020/21 Season Prohibition will be eligible for the Singapore 3yo Series consisting of three group races run during April and May of 2021 for total prizemoney of S$1.5m approx.

Pedigree

Prohibition possesses an outstanding pedigree. He is by the top Stallion, Written Tycoon, the 3rd ranked Sire by winners in Australia for the 2019/20 season and the Sire of over 530 winners including 58 Stakes Winners. Prohibition’s Dam, Walk With Attitude (by Hussonet) is a two time winner on the track including a win at Listed Level in Melbourne and was 2nd in the South Australian Guineas. Walk With Attitude is the dam of three foals, her one runner to date is the 3yo Colt, Spend (by Snitzel) who has had two wins from seven starts (Rosehill and Flemington) and ran 3rd in the Group 3 Zeditave Stakes at Flemington in February 2020. The 2nd dam Hillfa (by Danehill) was also a Listed winner. This is the family of successful Stallions, I am Invincible and Pride of Dubai and it is easy to see why Prohibition sold so highly as a Yearling. This is a “winning” family. Training & Race History

Prohibition was prepared by leading Sydney Trainers, Peter and Paul Snowden – he had two trials in May 2020 10 days apart, running 4th in his first trial on the 5th May at Randwick and 6th in his 2nd trial on the 15th also at Randwick – both trials were held on soft tracks. He was ridden by senior jockey Kerrin McEvoy on both occasions, who, when asked by John Galvin to give his assessment of the horse, said “a bit one paced in the going, needs more distance"

A strong, handsome, athletic chestnut Gelding, standing 16 hands high and weighing 506 kgs, Prohibition has the physical attributes to match his pedigree. “Always on the lookout for former high priced yearlings that are being offered for sale because they no longer suit their current owners criteria, this Colt (Prohibition) caught my eye when I saw his trial replay at Randwick in early May 2020 – I thought it was a strong first trial despite not seeming to handle the soft track conditions that well – he is a superb physical specimen who will be much better once gelded and given more time to mature – John Galvin and I have bought several horses of this profile over the past couple of years and all have gone well in Singapore – he has a bright future up here.”

“Mark Walker and I have been making a bit of an art form of selecting tried horses at “budget” prices over the last year or two – Federation, Red Rover, Brutus, Showbound and Hadeer all being good examples. We have seen enough of Prohibition to indicate that he can do a very good job for us in Singapore – he is an outstanding physical type who was, according to our spies, very Colty and badly needed to be gelded. That has now been done and a good paddock spell ahead of his travel to Singapore in August will really be the making of him physically.”

Terms

This 5% share will include all costs incurred from purchase date up until 1 September. Landed in Singapore all up costs for Prohibition are NZ$86,000 – this includes purchase price, syndication fees, Vetting, Insurance to 31 Jan 2021, freight to Singapore, quarantine expenses in Australia and Singapore and all agistment costs up until departure from Singapore quarantine.

Monthly ongoing costs commence 1st September 2020. From that date ongoing costs are: 5% share $180 per month
