Description
ATONE is a lightly raced son of RESET with excellent Melbourne form that will be a great addition to any stable looking for a horse than can compete in mid-week city racing.
Since returning from a tendon injury in 2019, Atone has been a model of consistency and unlucky not to have won races in town and on the provincial circuit.
He ran 2nd at Sandown last preparation (Nov 2019) and a fast-finishing 3rd at Mornington (Nov 2019) when he was a good thing beaten.
He returned this preparation and has run two solid seconds at Racing.Com Park in slickly run races where the winner broke the track record. His last start at Ballarat was a complete forgive when caught 8 wide and forced to make a long sustained run from the 800m.
Whilst his form on the polytracks has been very good, trainer Rob Hickmott believes he is a much better horse on Good to Soft tracks.
He has pulled up sound from his last run at Ballarat and is now enjoying a freshen up at the farm. The owners have decided to concentrate on younger stock and are regretfully parting ways with Atone who they have owned since he was a yearling.
A talented horse who hasn’t quite fulfilled his potential, Atone has plenty of racing ahead of him and is ready to head straight back to the races for his new owners.
