Unbroken 2-year-old filly by super stallion Choisir. This filly is being offered for unreserved sale. Please refer to the attached vet report regarding an x-ray issue.

Choisir has sired over 1100 winners, just under 100 stakes winners and his progeny earnings now stand in excess of $120 million. Although now in the twilight of his career, Choisir continues to churn out plenty of winners. In the last two years alone, he has sired 200 winners with 7 new stakes winners. Interestingly 5 of these 7 stakes winners, including his only 4 Group winners, have all been fillies – New Bay, Every Rose, Twitchy Frank and I Am Serious.

Choisir has also started to leave his mark as a broodmare sire, his daughters having already produced over 400 winners, 18 stakes winners including the English Group 1 winners Winter (1000 Guinea), My Dream Boat (Royal Ascot Prince of Wales's Stakes), Persuasive (Ascot Queen Elizabeth II Stakes) and Oxted (Newmarket July Cup).

This filly is the second foal of Captivity, herself a $125,000 yearling, the third highest priced Wanted filly of her year. On retiring to stud, she has done an exemplary job as a broodmare having produced three live healthy foals three years in a row and is presently due to foal in October to Coolmore Stud’s exciting dual Group 1 winning son of Deep Impact in Saxon Warrior.

Captivity’s first foal McCain (by Shooting to Win) was a $65,000 Inglis Classic Sale yearling. Under the tutelage of leading trainer Patrick Payne, McCain was victorious at his second start as a 2-year-old over 1100m at Echuca last season, before venturing to Sandown at his third start in an Open 2-year-old race over 1300m. He was well fancied in the betting, starting as a $3.70 second favourite (firmed from $4.00). It wasn’t his day, as on jumping he was crowded at the start which forced him back to the rear of the field. He then had to make the widest run, with the hard run telling in the straight where he made up some ground to be beaten just under 4 lengths. McCain is now spelling, however, expect him to be back bigger and better next time in.

Captivity produced a lovely Astern filly in 2019 and she will be offered for sale at the 2021 yearling sales.

It is worthwhile noting that this has been a particularly good family for producing fillies, with 3 of the 4 stakes winners in her first two dams being females – Divine Madonna (4 x G1), Angel of Mercy (G3) and Maternal (LR).

There is also plenty of activity within her first couple of dams with coverings, yearlings, unraced 2-year-olds and 3-year-olds coming through by Redoute’s Choice, Snitzel, Deep Field (2), The Autumn Sun, Star Witness, and Shamus Award. Stock by stallions of this quality will only help to embolden the family’s future fortunes and help to produce further black type for this filly’s page.
