Description
A well related young mare in foal to an exciting first season stallion, Caminetto is a great addition to any broodmare band.
Placed at her two-year-old debut and going on to win over a mile at Kilmore, Caminetto is a daughter of the legendary Danehill's outstanding son Fastnet Rock - the Gr.1 Oakleigh Plate and Lightning Stakes hero who has earned the crown of Australian Champion Sire on two occasions.
The sire of 166 stakes winners including 40 individual Gr.1 winners, Fastnet Rock boasts progeny earnings in excess of $209 million and has been represented by stakes winners 16 different countries.
And now he is doing the job as a broodmare sire, his daughters already producing 39 stakes winners including the big race winners Santa Ana Lane, Gytrash and Tivaci.
Fastnet Rock is in elite company, currently sitting in the top five Australian broodmare sires alongside Encosta de Lago, Redoute's Choice, More Than Ready and Zabeel.
One of his spring carnival stakes winners as dam sire - and now heading towards further riches at the upcoming Magic Millions carnival - is the tough and talented Sansom, the Gr.3 Chatham Stakes winner whose sire Charm Spirit is the sire of Scorpz to whom Caminetto is in foal (from one cover) on a mid-October service.
It's a lovely cross, one that continues on from the highly successful Invincible Spirit/Danehill combination that has produced 31 stakes winners including the Gr.1 gallopers Persian King, Loving Gaby, Oxted, Sound Of Freedom and Most Improved.
As a bonus this upcoming foal will carry a cross of the great mare Crimson Saint via her grandson Storm Cat and son Royal Academy - and it is well worth noting that Fastnet Rock has excelled with this line-breeding... results including the Gr.1 winners Santa Ana Lane, Sherwood Forest, Gytrash, Awesome Rock, Foxwedge and Irish Lights... as well as 22 other stakes winners.
An exciting prospect for Victoria, the Gr.3 winner Scorpz looked set - on the back of outstanding performances in the Avondale Guineas and NZ Derby - to make his mark in Australia only to strike severe interference (incurring career ending injury) in the Rosehill Guineas.
By Invincible Spirit's successful son Charm Spirit from a prolific local family, Scorpz is an eye-catching type and this is a mating bound to produce a lovely foal with Caminetto also a looker!
A half-sister to five winners from a strong European family, Caminetto is a granddaughter of the dual Group winner Memories who is one of four stakes winners produced by the prolific broodmare Ardmelody - also dam of the triple Gr.1 winning stayer Scorpion and the Listed winners Danish Rhapsody and Garuda.
This is a family that has made its mark in Australia with Memories' daughter Social Scene producing the high class galloper Zipping; winner of 16 races (including two at Gr.1 level and an historic four editions of the Sandown Classic now re-named in his honour) and over $4.5 million in stakes.
This family has been producing topliners for generations, its other members including the Gr.1 winners Ardross, Electrocutionist, Royal Highness, Robertico and Arctique Royale.

This mare has a current slight near side hind leg injury (cosmetic only). She is 100% sound and this does not affect her in any way. A veterinary report can be made available if required.
