Description
UNDERWRITE is an unraced mare by the Australian Champion 2YO and dual Group 1 winner SEBRING. Sebring was nearly undefeated in what was to be his only racing season, winning the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes and the Group 1 Sires’ Produce Stakes before narrowly missing the coveted 2YO Triple Crown when going down by a short head in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes. He is the sire of 64 Stakes winners including the Group 1 winners, CRITERION, DISSIDENT, NETTOYER etc. and from a limited number of crops as a broodmare sire, he has over 40 individual winners, including the Stakes winning 2yo THE ENZO ($208,500) and the Stakes placed IRONEDGE.
Underwrite is out of the winning REDOUTE’S CHOICE mare SPONSORED. Sponsored is a half-sister to the multiple Stakes winner ORDER OF THE SUN ($A262,655) as well as the Stakes winners BEAUTY ($219,650) and GET TO WORK. Her granddam SEQUIN is a half-sister to Group 2 winner SHANIA DANE ($846,450) as well as the Stakes winners SCINTILLATION (HK$24,831,850) and RISK AVERSION ($215,000). This is the family of New Zealand Champion 2YO Colt SUMMER PASSAGE.
Underwrite has had two foals, both by MANHATTAN RAIN, in her short breeding career, going in foal on her first cover each time. The yearling is a well grown correct colt, whilst the weanling is a different colour but very much in the same mold. Both have been retained to race by their owner. Underwrite was not bred last season, she measures 16.1hh and will be ready to be covered by the stallion of your choice in 2021.
