Description
A rare opportuniuty to obtain a top producing broodmare, in foal with an early cover to Menari (Snitzel).
Successfully, a well looked after, perfect aged mare is being offered for sale as owner is looking to reduce numbers in bloodstock.
Successfully is the dam of three foals to race for two winners and a placegetter.
LEALE being the highlight of her produce to date.
LEALE trained by Mick Kent, an impressive Saturday Caulfield winner and earner of $250,000 prize money money. Leale has just come back into work and is showing positive signs for another career high preparation within the coming weeks.
MENARI - SUCCESSFULLY (by Mossman) This is one of those matings that just screams TRY ME on paper! Whilst Menari has had issues, he is a genuine Group quality horse who is standing at a cheaper fee that he would have had he been more fertile.
A lightly raced winner at Gr.2 level, Menari is a son of Snitzel who has combined with Mossman in the pedigrees of only 14 runners, ten of whom - an excellent 71.45% - are winners including Mossman’s Golden Slipper winning daughter Mossfun.
This is an extension of the success story that is the Snitzel/Success Express combination, one which boasts a 70.2% strike rate; 40 winners from 57 runners including the W.S Cox Plate & Australian Guineas winner Shamus Award.
Menari is bred on a Nijinsky II/Baguette cross, the same as Successfully whose sixth dam is the wonderful mare Never Too Late - winner of four of her nine starts including the Gr.1 Epsom Oaks, the Gr.1 1000 Guineas and the Gr.1 Prix de la Salamandre.
I am a massive fan of line-breeding to the family of a well related mare and Never Too Late is a fine subject for duplication being a highly successful broodmare whose three stakes winners include the outstanding stallion Without Fear (51 stakes winners), dam sire of Menari’s dam sire General Nediym.
Hence this mating provides for a 6 X 7 cross of Never Too Late. Having one such nice mare duplicated within seven generations is a big tick but there is even further depth to this match with General Nediym’s grandsire Shareef Dancer being a grandson of the Gr.3 winning high class broodmare Mrs Peterkin. Her dual Group winning son Dancing Champ is the dam sire of Success Express; providing for a 7 X 6 cross noting that this General Nediym/Success Express combo has produced the Gr.1 winners Hey Doc and Mr Quickie as well as the dual Listed winner Taameer. Successfully’s pedigree is one strongly influenced by the prolific Lady Josephine family with strains of its members Mossman, Mahmoud, Pherozshah, Fair Trial (twice), Nasrullah and Tudor Minstrel.
This family is also prevalent in Menari who has further Nasrullah as well as Coeur Volant, Jambo, Nizami, Nediym and Faux Tirage... and with this family it is a matter of the more the better! Canny Lad, General Nediym, Mossman and Rory’s Jester - all close up in this mating - all have strong Lady Josephine influence and thrive when crossed with further. It is worth noting that Bel Esprit is similar - and he of course is the sire of Successfully’s talented daughter Leale (who is also line-bred to Nijinsky II).
There are a large number of influential mares duplicated in the background of this mating, namely Paraffin, Canterbury Pilgrim, Helene de Troie, Aurora, Double Life, Pervencheres, Traffic Judge, Baroness la Fleche, Silver Fowl, Teresina, Alcibiades, Queen Mary, Anchora, Frizette, Delleana, Sister Sarah and Livie II. There is also good male strength with eight excellent stallions (Alycidon, Baguette, Eight Thirty, Nasrullah, Nearctic, Nijinsky II, Northern Dancer and Tom Fool) duplicated within seven generations. In summary this is an outstanding mating! - Kristen Manning.
