Description
A beautiful physical specimen, MOONLIGHT SONATA is by SESSIONS out of MOLTO ALLEGRO a granddaughter of REDOUTE’S CHOICE. MOONLIGHT SONATA is a half-sister to the stakes winning 2yo BEETHOVEN (three-time winner including the WATC Perth Stakes).
Her granddam is the outstanding 2yo stakes winner JESTATUNE, a daughter of RORY’S JESTER who won four races (three at 2yo) including the WATC Gimcrack stakes and Magic Millions and was Group placed on four occasions. JESTATUNE produced the brilliant Group winning juvenile JUKEBOX, a three-time stakes winner; including the G3 MRC Vain Stakes and Inglis 2yo Premier (RL).
The third dam UMATUNE is also a stakes winner and this daughter of UMATILLA produced the tough G1 winner ITSAHYMN who won 12 races (three at 2yo) and trained on to earn over $1.6 million, winning five Group or Listed races, including the G1 WATC Kingston Town Classic and G2 CB Cox Stakes. This is a sound, tough pedigree that continues to produce stakes running progeny in every generation.
MOONLIGHT SONATA is correct, well conformed, a lovely mover and has let down into a beautiful broodmare. She has a kind nature, is easy to catch, good in the crush and well behaved in the paddock with other mares.
MOONLIGHT SONATA is in foal to Frosted (DLS: 16/10/20). Frosted is quickly making his mark in Australia with his first crop performing extremely well, having already produced two stakes winners; including Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial Stakes winner INGRATIATING, as well as CLOUDY who took out the Listed SAJC Dequetteville Stakes – a race that resulted in a FROSTED quinella with TRANSLATION running second by a head.
FROSTED has only had 10 runners in Australia for five winners, two stakes winners and two placegetters. Eight of his progeny to race have earnt prizemoney. He looks to have an outstanding future being second on the first season sires list by stakes winners.
