Description

The Olympian is a winner and metro-placed 3yo Grey gelding by Champion European sprinter Olympic Glory. He was an $85,000 Magic Millions Adelaide graduate, purchased by Tony McEvoy.

Tony McEvoy’s original comments on purchase of the horse at the yearling sales were:

“He moves beautifully and he is really deep and strong. A nice style of horse.”

The Olympian is out of the winning Thunder Gulch mare Real Special, who is a quality producer being the dam of seven foals to race for seven winners. Real Special is out of Stakes winning Old Spice mare Real Treasure.

The Olympian is a lightly raced 3yo, who has had just 11 starts, for one win, two seconds and a third.

The Olympian made his debut as a 2yo at Murray Bridge on 22/7/20 over 1200m, where he was beaten the narrowest of margins into second place. His second start was at metro level at Morphettville on the 01/8/21, where he finished second again, this time over 1250m. The Olympian broke his maiden at his fourth start at Murray Bridge over 1400m. Two starts later he competed in Stakes-grade in the Hill Smith Stakes at Morphettville over 1800m, it would appear that he didn’t get the distance on this occasion. Following this unplaced run, his trainers elected to keep him to 1200m-1400m.

He stands at approximately 16H and weighs approximately 550kgs. He is easy to shoe, float, ride and is lovely to handle around the stables and is accustomed to both the treadmill and swimming pool. His last start was the on 9th of May, so he is in fantastic condition and currently located in Miners Rest, near Ballarat, Vic.

He has no significant vetting history whatsoever and is generally a very sound horse.
