Description
Lightly raced maiden filly Oceanarium is available for sale as owners are looking to dissolve the present partnership.
The filly is by gun sire Ocean Park, whose stallion career is spearheaded by progeny such as multiple Group 1 winner Kolding as well Group 1 winners Tofane and Ocean Billy. He has sired many feature race winners in Australia and New Zealand including Oceanex, Star of the Seas, Fabric, Another Dollar, Out Of The Park and Our Hail Mary. He is now the sire of 15 Stakes winners & 27 Stakes performers.
Oceanarium’s dam Iffy (by O’Reilly out of Not Sure), is a full-sister to Derby winner BETWIXT, who is the dam of Group 1 Queensland Oaks winner PROVOCATIVE, so the filly also has broodmare appeal post her racing career.
Oceanarium hasn’t had much luck across her five career starts to date.
She ran an encouraging third on debut on March 25, 2021 behind the smart Americain Angel, who was last seen finishing less than two lengths from the winner in the Group 1 South Australian Oaks. At start two she was caught three-wide without cover and put in a gallant effort behind eventual SA Fillies’ Classic winner Mimi’s Award.
She then featured significantly in the steward’s report at start three, as she was eased down by her rider after suffering severe interference on the home turn after looking like she was destined to be in the finish of the 2000m event. She bounced back with a credible performance to finish fourth over 2200m in start four.
In her last start on May 29 she once again featured prominently in the steward’s report after being caught three-wide throughout over 2000m with the blinkers on first time.
Her performance showed she had had enough for this campaign as it been a horrid week for the filly. Four days earlier she had endured a seven-hour round float trip as she was to race at Stawell only for the meeting to be abandoned as soon as her float arrived on track.
She has pulled up sound from her May 29 race and is now enjoying a spell. She is a good-sized mare that weighed in at 534kg prior to her last start.
Her PlusVital DNA profile is a CT Long which indicates that her preferred distance range is from 1800-2400m and being by Ocean Park she will mature further as a four-year-old.
