A rare opportunity to purchase a young broodmare where both her sire, and her dam were Group 1 winners over 1000m. And we all know how much the yearling buyers love yearlings from fast pedigrees.

By Choisir – sire of 1,190 winners, 99 Stakes Winners, $125 million in progeny earnings.

Broodmare Sire of 450 winners, 22 Stakes Winners. In the Northern Hemisphere his daughters have produced four times UK/Irish G1 winner Winter, plus UK G1 winners Oxted, My Dream Boat and Persuasive.

In Australia, Choisir’s daughters have produced recent stakes winners Beau Rossa (by Unencumbered), Isotope (by Deep Field), Grace and Harmony (by Sebring), plus Moonlight Maid (Group 2 winner by Puissance De Lune); My Poppette (Group 2 winner by Snippetson), and Ekstein (Group 2 winner by I Am Invincible).

Zhaojun’s dam is the incredibly talented European sprinter Imperial Beauty. Her crowning glory came in France’s No.1 1000m sprint, the Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp (Group 1), in which she relegated Group 1 winners Bahamian Pirate and Pipalong into the minor placings. Two years earlier, she had gone within a short neck of winning the same race, this time being touched off by Champion Japanese Sprinter Agnes World in the shadows of the post.

Imperial Beauty had also shown tremendous form as a 2yo, running a close second in the Newnarket Cheveley Park Stakes (Group 1), as well as two Listed Race wins in the UK over 1000m and 1200m as a 3yo.

At stud Imperial Beauty has left 4 winners including the top-class black type French galloper and a three-quarter sister to Zhaojun in Ipswich (multiple Group 3/Listed Race placed, by Danehill Dancer), as well as Loyalty Man (by Fastnet Rock), a winner of $478,207.

Catching Moonbeams, a half-sister to Zhaojun, has already left South African Listed Race winner Purely Atomic (by Encosta De Lago).

There is also some nice activity under Zhaojun’s first dam, which presents a definite chance to further enhance her pedigree. One of her half-sisters Bawaakeer (by Kingmambo), which has already produced 3 winners, has a couple of unraced Teofilo colts coming through (one of them a AUD200,000 foal). While her three-quarter sister Ipswich has a 2019 filly by Heart’s Cry, which sold for AUD400,000 at the JRA Foal Sale, and she has a 2020 filly by Satono Diamond.

Other Group 1 winners produced from this family include Lakeway (US Champion Filly), Bold Forbes (Kentucky Derby), Saratoga Six (Del Mar Futurity), Jan Vermeer (Saint-Cloud Criterium International), Together (Keeneland Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup), and many others.

Zhaojun sells in foal to dual Group 1 winning 2yo and last season’s Champion Australian First Crop Sire in Pride of Dubai (by Street Cry). At this year’s yearling sales, his yearlings have averaged $85,000, and sold for up to $300,000, while at the 2021 Australian broodmare sales, mares in foal to Pride of Dubai have sold for $100,000 (2), $120,000, $150,000 and $155,000.

Zhaojun stands approximately 15.2 1/2 hands high. You will see in the video she is strong sprinting type. She is a good-natured mare and easy to manage, and went straight into foal with a minimum of fuss last season.
