4TH IN THE GR 1 CHAMPAGNE STAKES & STAKES PERFORMED 2-YEAR-OLD
FAYERRA was a model of consistency as a 2-year-old and the level she raced at was a true indication of the high regard her trainer, Anthony Cummings, held her.
She had two runs as an early 2-year-old, where, although not quite furnished, showed the ability was about to come. Scratched at the barrier in the Inglis Millennium after being kicked by another horse, she had a four week freshen up before her next run in the GR 2 Silver Slipper where she was an impressive 4th, the race won by Farnan with Global Quest in second.
Her next run was in the GR 2 Reisling Stakes where another impressive performance landed her with another 4th placing behind Dame Giselle, See You Soon & Mildred. Her Stakes placed performance came two runs later when she was 3rd in the LISTED FERNHILL STAKES followed by a run was in the GR 1 CHAMPAGNE STAKES and a huge effort saw her finish in another agonising 4th place behind King's Legacy and Glenfiddich. She was then spelled before returning for the Spring but needed more time to recover from her two year old performances.
On returning to work for the Autumn Carnival, an injury to her hind-quarter put her back in the paddock and unfortunately she has not returned to her 2-year-old form this preparation. A filly who showed great physical improvement in her time out, who was always going to improve on track, unfortunately did not get to her best at three and four years of age through injury. She beat home the likes of GR 2 winner Every Rose & dual GR 3 winner Holyfield.
A very good-looking mare, FAYERRA was ultra-consistent as a two-year-old and will be a tremendous addition to any broodmare band.
