LA LAYLA
LA LAYLA is a 3yo filly by the late REDOUTE’S CHOICE out of the Zabeel mare SMILES FOR LAYLA. A lovely physical, she has blossomed into a great type and is being offered as a racing or breeding prospect.
This filly’s pedigree has plenty of upside if the breeding barn is your preferred option, with LA LAYLA being out of SMILES FOR LAYLA who is a full sister to ADRIFT. ADRIFT is a winner of three races including the G2 ATC Light Fingers Stakes, and she herself has a very promising 3yo colt with Chris Waller named ZARASTRO who was a $1 million yearling. At his only start ZARASTRO ran a promising second to PAULELE. ADRIFT has a 2020 colt by MERCHANT NAVY on the ground and is due to foal to I AM INVINCIBLE again this season.
SMILES FOR LAYLA is a three-quarter sister to the superstar racehorse MALDIVIAN who is a three-time G1 winner and earnt nearly $3 million on the track having won the G1 Cox Plate, the MRC Yalumba Stakes and the CF Orr Stakes. She is also a half-sister to ARC Karaka Million winner IMPERIAL WIN who is now racing in Singapore as XIONG FENG.
LA LAYLA’s already impressive pedigree is made even more current, with the exciting Te Akau owned and Jamie Richards trained ENTRIVIERE bursting onto the scene this year with two G3 wins earlier in the year. She has raced seven times for five wins and two seconds and is in Sydney ready to add to her dual stakes victories after winning an impressive barrier trial at Randwick last Friday.
Other stakes performers closely related to LA LAYLA include; Pump It, Satin Belt, Star Treasure, Sharpe Hussler and Flying Orca.
LA LAYLA is herself a half-sister to multiple winner LAFFALONG by ALL TOO HARD who was purchased from the Inglis Easter Yearling sale for $260,000. The family will only continue to grow as SMILES FOR LAYLA produced a cracking NOT A SINGLE DOUBT filly in 2020 who will be heading to the yearling sales in the new year. This season she visits the exciting ANDERS.
LA LAYLA’s sire is the undisputable Champion REDOUTE’S CHOICE; sire of an incredible 39 individual G1 winners and 12% stakes winners to runners. He is a breed shaping stallion with his progeny including MISS FINLAND, LANKAN RUPEE, SAMANTHA MISS, and THE AUTUMN SUN among many others. He is also a significant sire of sires, having produced the likes of SNITZEL, NOT A SINGLE DOUBT, STRATUM and BEANETAU.
The true value for the future of LA LAYLA will be in her pedigree, as a broodmare sire, REDOUTE’s CHOICE mares are gold in any broodmare band. LA LAYLA has been spelling since the end of July and not up to stakes standard, so her owners have decided to move her on. She would suit a country trainer who can give her the time and attention she needs to grow and develop further.
She is easy to shoe, float, ride and is lovely to handle around the stables and is accustomed to both the treadmill and swimming pool. She is currently spelling and ready to go on with.
