Description
A lightly raced six-year-old, Duchess Christina is by the outstanding Encosta de Lago line stallion Zoustar, the dual Gr.1 winning sprinter who has done such a superb job at stud with his 23 stakes winners including the big race winners Sunlight and Zoutori.
Early days for Zoustar as a broodmare sire but he ticks all the boxes with Encosta de Lago one of the great broodmare sire forces of recent times with his daughters producing123 stakes winners, 16 of whom have been successful at Gr.1 level.
Hailing from one of Victoria's most successful winner getting families, Duchess Christina is out of the two times Galileo winning mare Saggiatore whose city winning dam Follow The Sails produced seven winners including the speedy stakes winners Follow Gold (in turn dam of the Gr.1 sprinter Driefontein and grandam of the Listed winner Black On Gold) and Export Gold (dam of the Singapore Gr.3 winner Forest Gold and the local Listed winner Dubawi Gold).
Stakes winners Temperate Pug and Follow Me Through also hail from this well known speed family, one which is going to continue to thrive with Duchess Christina's relations in recent years visiting such high profile stallions as Pierata, Written By, Flying Artie, Nicconi, Saxon Warrior, Extreme Choice, Sebring, Rubick, Russian Revolution and Deep Impact.
