Description
Well named for the future (Italian for 'Mother Of Stars'), this young mare is by one of the great Exceed And Excel's finest sons, the triple Gr.1 winner Helmet who is achieving good things on the international stage with his son Thunder Snow taking out two runnings of the rich and prestigious Dubai World Cup.
It is still very early days for Helmet as a broodmare sire but already he is dam sire of the stakes winner River Night whilst his sire Exceed And Excel is really making his mark in this department with his daughters producing 55 stakes winners, ten of whom have been successful at Gr.1 level.
Madre di Stelle is a daughter of the Viscount mare Caraveli (still at stud, served last spring by Smart Missile having produced a Starspangledbanner filly last spring) whose dam by Canny Lad is the high class broodmare Chaparral.
A half-sister to the dual Gr.2 winner Spinney out of the Gr.2 mare Ochiltree, Chaparra produced the five times Group winner El Cambio and the dual Listed winner Complicate whilst her Gr.3 placed daughter Cataclysm has been represented by three stakes winners... the Blue Diamond Stakes heroine Earthquake and the Listed winners Pandemic and Palomares.
