Description
MINICOURT (Monty).
One of 2 on offer in this sale. Genuine Untried horse. Broken in. Ready to go. No reason why you can’t put it immediately into work and have it off to the races in a couple of months. After breaking in Monty was initially put away in the paddock to grow into himself seeing as he was a staying type. Just recently he was bought into work at the local race track for educating. Monty and his mate are both being sold as the part owner and trainer recently had a stroke and she is now in a care facility requiring full time care.
I bought this horse, when he was only a little weanling, online a couple of years back. I was very keen on purchasing a staying type and very interested in the breeding (Nom du Jeu) as at the time the John Size trained Nom Du Jeu horse - Ping Hai Star – was flogging everything in Hong Kong. This horse was by the same Australian Stallion, who was himself a former Derby winner who had had limited chances as a stallion in Australia. I had bred a nice little colt from my good mare to the Aquis Stallion Husson and I needed a paddock buddy for it so I bought a couple of fellow colts as playmates for my boy. I then gifted then gifted the 2 bought weanlings to my parents – with my mum to be the trainer as I thought it would likely be the last horses she would own and train. Mum gave them both plenty of time, but Monty especially as he was bred to stay. He was broken in up the Sunshine coast late 2020 where Matty did a great job with him and his mate. After breaking in he went straight into the paddock. We have never encountered any leg or feet issues with either of them. Mum just gave them plenty of time as she had a couple of other older horses in work and she was of an age where just a couple in work at any one time was more than enough
After a good 6 months in the paddock we started him in at the track a couple of months ago. He started with a local pre-trainer for a couple of weeks and then returned to us. Everything went faultless but then we threw him and his mate out again as they as they were just about to commence a significant upgrade to our local track and trackwork facilities here at the Beaudesert race track. This includes ripping up the sand track to replace with an all weather, etc. The powers that be had decided to put in a temporary bull ring for the locals here to use but we decided just to throw the 2 horses out once again in the paddock. We figured we would wait until all the facilities were available again.
We have now decided to move both horses on. With the mum now in full time care and her husband (stepfather) now spending all his time dedicated to visiting and with her throughout the day – I did flirt with getting my licence and training the 2 horses myself – training him and his mate for my parents but the reality is I am just simply way too busy with my work these days. I just simply don’t have the time.
Currently the 2 horses we have in the sale are both here at home in a big paddock on our property in Beaudesert. With the recent rain the grass is up to their stomach’s. For anyone interested you are welcome to arrange vet inspections. Scenic Rim Vets who service most of the horse farms and horse trainer in this area, including Aquis Stud can be contacted at (07) 5541 0219 but you are welcome to use any vets. Just provide a heads up of when and we will make sure someone is here.
We took Monty and his mate to the track on Sunday to get some video footage to post for this site. See video. Shot 05.12.2021
