What a terrific race horse Fiorente was... best remembered of course for his dominant victory over Red Cadeaux in the 2013 Melbourne Cup, a race in which the year before he had finished a gallant second to Green Moon.
But he was also a high class weight-for-age campaigner, taking out the also won the Gr.1 Australian Cup, the Gr.2 Feehan Stakes and the Gr.2 St George Stakes - and placing in the Gr.1 W.S Cox Plate... proving himself to be one of the best gallopers of the 2013/14 season.
Retiring to stud as the winner of six of his 20 starts and over $6.2 million in stakes, Fiorente has proven very popular with broodmare owners and he is doing a great job siring 113 winners with eight of those - including the Group winners Lunar Flare, Stars Of Carrum, Beauty Legacy and Moor Gait - successful at stakes level.
Fiorente fares particularly well when crossed with mares carrying strains of his own prolific family - one which Lady Trieu is line-bred to, boasting strains of two of its most prominent members in Nureyev and Thatch.
As a bonus this filly is also line-bred to Danzig (three crosses via his high class sons Polish Precedent, Green Deesrt and Danehill) and to Danzig's family - from which her dam sire Pure Theatre hails.
A $850,000 yearling who went on to win the Gr.3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude, Pure Theatre has sired 90 winners having served only small books and is now doing a nice job as a broodmare sire.
This VOBIS and VOBIS Gold qualified filly is the third foal produced by the three times winner Lady Trieu, half-sister to the stakes winner Win Smoothly out of a half-sister to the Gr.3 Adrian Knox Stakes winner Alma Mater - in turn dam of the dual Gr.1 winner Savannah Success, dam of the Gr.1 W.S Cox Plate winning champion stallion Savabeel.
This is a terrific family, one which has also produced the durable six times Gr.1 winner Black Heart Bart, the four times Listed winner Rebel King, the triple Listed winner Rebelson, the triple Group winner Memphis Blues, the Gr.2 Perth Cup winner Palatious, the Gr.1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Danelagh, the Gr.1 AJC Oaks winner Dizelle and the Hong Kong star Vengeance Of Rain.
