Description
OLIMBA is a 3yo gelding by Australia’s Leading General Sire for the 2021-22 Season in that of NICCONI. NICCONI is currently striking at 67.5% winners to runners, with 24 Stakes winners to his tally, including 13 Group winners including sprinting sensation, multiple G1 winning and 2021 ATC Everest winner NATURE STRIP, as well as being the sire of the 2021 G1 Winterbottom Stakes winner GRACEFUL GIRL.
OLIMBA is out of the winning mare HOLY OPERA (by ORATORIO) who is a half-sister to BIG MONEY (by CHOISIR) who amassed 10 career wins and $820,000 in prizemoney, including wins in the G3 Southern Cross Stakes, G3 George Moore Stakes and the G3 Lough Neagh Stakes as well as a further eight top four stakes level placed finishes. A running family, the pedigree also includes the ten-time winner and three-time stakes winning LYNSTED LAD.
In the mould of his sire, OLIMBA is well-muscled, has a strong hind quarter and shoulder, and a deep girth.
OLIMBA is unraced, so has every opportunity to break his maiden and work his way up through the grades for his new owners. He would be best suited to a smaller country trainer who could give him the time he needs to grow and mature as he has been acknowledged as having soundness issues with bone spurs identified in his knees September 2021.
He has had a 12-week spell due to his immature knees, and is ready to be brought back into work slowly, however his owners have decided they would rather not push on with him. At peak fitness he weighs in at 511kgs.
OLIMBA is a lovely strong type who has taken time to develop, all the hard work has been done and he is ready to train on with. He is currently spelling in Victoria.
