Description
As you can see by the photos and video attached Chardonnay is a lovely mare who stands at 16 HH. She is a very strong mare with good profile and confirmation. She does have a shoe on her off fore due to her having a dishy foot.
Chardonnay's pedigree is not only heavily stamped in blacktype it is one that is current and progressive. By Champion racehorse and Champion 1st, 2nd and 3rd season sire Pierro, she is also out of the Group 3 winning and Group 1 placed Giant's Causeway mare Awesome Planet, who is also the dam of Group 1 winner Awesome Rock, now standing at stud in Western Australia. Chardonnay is 1 of only 2 foals not to race for the mare with 5 of her 6 starters all going on to win. Further to the before mentioned Chardonnay is also a half sister to another stakes performer in Earth (by Redoute's Choice).
Chardonnay is the dam of 3 foals herself, two of which have been named for one to race and has already been placed at 3 this season.
She is being offered in foal to the Group 1 winning son of Dundeel in Castelvecchio, an exciting young stallion prospect that has taken his place along side his father on the stallion roster at Arrowfield, one of the greatest sire making outfits in the southern hemispehere. This is Castelvecchio's second breeding season and he has proven very popular with breeders having covered books of over 100 mares in each of his first two seasons at stud. This popularity will no doubt continue through to the buyers when the progeny of Castelvecchio reach the sale rings.
