Description
Koonya is a 16HH with good confirmation and bone with a great profile. As a racehorse she showed ability early winning an 1100m Fillies and Mares maiden at only her third start, however she was unfortunately unable to improve on that record being limited to only 6 career starts in total.
Out of the unraced Choisir mare Base Paradise, making her a half sister to the Group 2 winner and multiple Group 1 placed BRAZUCA, as well as the stakes winner and Group performed MR UTOPIA. Her granddam is the great CATNIPPED. Koonya is also a granddaughter of the breed shaping sire of his generation Redoute's Choice and being out of a Choisir mare also provides Koonya with a double cross to Danehill.
Koonya has produced 4 foals to race, 3 of which have gone on to win at the track. She has also proven herself to be a commercial breeder with her progeny fetching up to $80,000 through the sale ring.
She is being offered with a positive pregnancy test to exciting young freshman sire North Point on an early season cover. Popular with breeders in his maiden season, the very attractive son of Brazen Beau covered an impressive book of 202 mares. These sort of numbers give credence to North Pacifics good looks and commercial appeal and in turn Koonya should have plenty of commercial appeal with astute broodmare buyers.
Please note she did have a c - section in 2020 but made a full recovery.
