Offered for unreserved sale is the in foal metropolitan winning ENCOSTA DE LAGO broodmare RAPALA. She is in foal to STRASBOURG, the most precocious and highest rated son of sire sensation I Am Invincible, standing at Rosemont Stud (Stud fee of $11,000) and if his first season crop, including Rapala's own colt and another on our property are anything to go by, she promises to provide the successful bidder with a cracker of a foal.

Rapala is in excellent health with her 2021 Strasbourg colt weaned approximately 2 weeks ago.
As a broodmare sire, ENCOSTA DE LAGO is ranked 3rd in the current 2021-22 season, led by G2 McCafe Moonee Valley Gold Cup winner LUNAR FLARE, G2 Heineken Stan Fox Stakes winner HILAL, G3 Paramount Plus Carbine Club Stakes and Listed Reginald Allen Quality winner FANGIRL. Encosta De Lago is presently ranked 2nd on the list of Top 10 Broodmare Sires in Australia, with
2853 runners for 1800 winners and Seventy Seven (77) Group Winners, including Sword of State, Alabama Express, Alligator Blood, Divine Prophet, Impending, Japonisme - just to name a few current performers.
Rapala is from the family of Party Manners, Duty Dance, Village King & Proceed Bee.
Rapala is a correct mare standing at approx 16.1hh with a great temperament that is passed on to her foals with pedigree updates sure to come. Her 2018 Exosphere colt who fetched $155,000 at the 2020 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sales, was exported to New Zealand - destined for Singapore. The latest report form NZ trainer Glenn Oak indicates the as yet unamed colt has plenty of ability.
The mare's 2020 Smart Missile filly ( https://youtu.be/s2pVWL4BXl8 )will stay in Victoria to be trained at Mornington and the 2021 Strasbourg Colt has been retained by the breeders.
At approximately 16.1hh Rapala is well behaved for the farrier, dentist, any vet work including reproductive services, loading onto a truck and most importantly, is good eater and a wonderful mum to her foals. She foals down easily, with her two foalings on this farm textbook.
Rapala is a very submissive mare and waits patiently to be fed. She gets on very well in a herd, but is also happy to be paddocked on her own. She has old scarring to her near hind leg which in no way impedes her action nor soundness as a broodmare.
Rapala is a windsucker - a condition undeclared when the mare was purchased by the current owners but effectively controlled by the application of a miracle collar avoiding any problems with paddock pals.
Rapala is available for on farm inspection in Kilmore Victoria. The Stud Book is current.
