Description
Group 1 winning mare carrying a foal by SHAMUS AWARD ($88,000 service fee in 2022), that will have a freakishly potent pedigree:
SPECIAL MISSION is herself a Group 1 winner. She is also a sire line grand daughter of LAST TYCOON.
SHAMUS AWARD has only had 2 runners to date from sire line grand daughters of LAST TYCOON. Between them they have won $6.6m+ and 4 Group 1's, including this season's Caulfield Cup, INCENTIVISE, and ATC Oaks, EL PATRONESS.
While two runners is a very small sample size it is compelling to also look at how SHAMUS AWARD's sire and damsire are performing with larger sample sizes of LAST TYCOON line mares...
SHAMUS AWARD's sire is SNITZEL. The SNITZEL x LAST TYCOON nick has had 57 runners to date and is going at a 5.3% Group 1 winners to runners (one in every 19 is a Group 1 winner) and 10.5% Stakes winners to runners (better than 1 in every 10)!
SHAMUS AWARD's damsire is SUCCESS EXPRESS. SUCCESS EXPRESS as a sire's damsire over sire line grand daughters of LAST TYCOON has had 193 runners to date and is going at 4.7% Group 1 winners to runners and 11.9% stakes winners to runners (including multiple Group 1 winner Mo'unga)!
The in utero foal will also be bred on same REDOUTE'S CHOICE cross as REDOUBLE, a multiple stakes winner of $1.5m+ that SPECIAL MISSION has already produced.
SPECIAL MISSION's 2020 filly recently sold at the Premier yearling sale for $180,000.
We have sold our farm and need to downsize. She is an incredibly kind mare and is very easy to handle. She does very occasionally wind suck. Very rarely in the paddock. A bit more so in the stables. It is however not a trait she tends to pass on to her foals with none of her past 6 foals being windsuckers. She is a good breeder whom has never had a slip or an unplanned missed season. She got in foal on first cover to SHAMUS AWARD (regrettably she had spent the bulk of the season being served by another stallion that was just not working out). She benefits from having shoes on her front feet when the ground is firm. Typically we would have removed them by now but it has been a dry Autumn in Victoria so she still has them on..
