Description
Queen Caesar is being sold as an ongoing broodmare proposition as part of her Owner’s Reduction sale of a small part of his thoroughbred portfolio.
Queen Caesar is by Holy Roman Emperor who was a Champion 2yo by Danehill. In fact, Holy Roman Emperor was Timeform’s highest rated 2yo ever by Danehill. Out of a Secretariat mare, like Storm Cat, etc Holy Roman Emperor is “a sire proven at the top level all over the world that just keeps producing” TDN
Queen Caesar’s dam is To Please A Lady and she has a been a prolific producer of winners and very sound progeny. In total her progeny have won 57 races collectively with some of her progeny still racing. Queen Caesar herself was a twice mid-week city winning mare of 6 races and also placed 10 times so she was a very sound and effective race mare that also retired sound.
It is worth noting that Holy Roman Emperor can sometimes get smaller progeny but Queen Caesar is considered a full-sized mare (ie: she is a medium-sized broodmare).
Queen Caesar is an 11yo mare and is the dam of four live foals to date. Her only yearling to sell sold for $160,000 at the 2020 Classic Yearling Sale to the Ellerton/Zahra Training partnership. This colt by Pierro has had only one start for educational purposes but “was feeling his shins during that race” according to his Trainer Simon Zahra.
Her yearling colt by Pride of Dubai has been retained to race by his Owner and was not entered into the recent 2022 yearling sales series.
Her weanling colt by Pierata is not offered as part of this sale.
Due to Queen Caesar foaling her Pierata colt on 18th October 2021 so late in the season, Queen Caesar was not served by any stallion in the 2021 breeding season. Consequently, Queen Caesar should be ready for a very early cover in the upcoming 2022 Breeding Season.
There is considerable relations coming through from the To Please A Lady family with foals/progeny coming through being by such sires as Pierro, Justify, Too Darn Hot, Spirit of Boom (planned for 2022), Brave Smash, Invader, Kermadec and Holler, etc. So there is considerable opportunity for family upgrades over the next 2 to 3 years.
Queen Caesar was to be booked to Russian Revolution for the upcoming 2022 breeding season until his service fee was announced at a substantially increased service fee for the 2022 breeding season and so the Owner has instead elected to offer Queen Caesar for sale.
