Description
Piran is a 3 time winning young mare by Pentire. She is 16hh and weighs 586kg, has correct conformation and is good to handle. She is a full sister to Gr 3 placed Lucripetus. Her yearling sold for $60000 (day 2 Perth MM) and has gone to Alan Matthews.
She carries an early cover to Safeguard who is a dual Group winning son of EXCEED AND EXCEL, considered the world’s greatest sire of 2 year olds;
• is out of PRESERVE (by CANNY LAD) who was a Group 1 winner at two and ranked the second top filly of her generation AND a half-sister to DENMAN, also a Group One winner and sire; and
• has a Golden Slipper winner in each of his first four (4) generations and a pedigree very similar to the 2019 Golden Slipper winner, KIAMICHI.
And he could run! Safeguard won his first three starts including the Group 3 ATC Kindergarten Stakes and the Group 3 MRC Vain Stakes, before going down narrowly in the Group 2 VRC Danehill Stakes.
While he has had limited numbers, his results have been excellent. His first crop statistics are incredible - from 30 live foals, 29 are named, 25 have raced for 23 winners (92% winners to runners).
