GOOD LOOKS AND A GREAT PEDIGREE
Cowgirl Claire is correct and a superb type, proven by her selling as a $280,000 Easter Yearling to the excellent judge and trainer John O’Shea in 2012. Now a winning More Than Ready mare out of Group winning mare, Cowgirl Claire has plenty of upside and would be a great asset to any broodmare band.
Cowgirl Claire is by proven leading broodmare sire, More Than Ready who is currently sitting 5th in the Leading Australia Broodmare Sires standings for the 2021-22 season with earnings of $15,870,182 and being headlined this season as the broodmare sire of star 2YO Coolangatta. More Than Ready is also the broodmare sire of Group 1 winners Wellington, Forbidden Love and Celebrity Queen along with many other Stakes winners.
Last season she had her first foal, a quality, correct colt by Headwater and as a result was covered again by the same sire and returned a positive pregnancy test from her first cover in 2021. Headwater is an exciting young stallion on the rise after being crowned CHAMPION Second Season Sire in 2020-21. Some of his progeny include multiple Group 2 winner JAMAEA and Group winner and million-dollar earner WISDOM OF WATER.
Cowgirl Claire has a page littered with black type along with both dams on the page being Stakes winners. She offers plenty of upside with her family breeding on as she is a full sister to Furiosa who as a broodmare has produced a $75,000 yearling colt by Deep Field, sold at Magic Millions in 2021. This colt is now a 2YO named Deep Fury and is in training with Golden Slipper winning trainer Gary Portelli. Darby Racing also purchased a filly by Invader out of Furiosa this year at the Inglis Classic sale.
