Description
Champagne Shooter
This beautiful Chestnut mare took a long time to get ready and put in a terrific performance at Pakenham in October. She finished a good fourth and should, at that point, gone out for a break having been in work a long time.
She is by Shooting to Win the sire of Marscapone (Group 1) Centrefire, Kubrick, and Mystery Shot, amongst others, and she’s out of the family of Group 1 winner Holler.
In May Champagne Shooter won a 1100m JumpOut comfortably, with her ears pricked on a good 4 but clearly lacked the required experience when racing on debut; she was run off her feet in an 1100m maiden at Stawell.
Her second race, over 1400m, was transferred to the Polytrack after heavy rains and she found her self all at sea on the unfamiliar surface.
On the quick back-up she was asked to perform on a Heavy 10 track at Wangaratta and, despite cleary not liking the surface, was working into the race nicely when she stumbled and pulled both front shoes off. This race preceded her best effort at Pakenham and since then the effects of a long prep have started to show in her races. It's time for a little break.
I am positive this mare can win races; she is big and strong and has a great temperament. She took a bit of time to work through some issues early in her career (and has worn pads on both front feet) but she is sound and in great condition.
