Pregnancy Certificate 01.06.22Description
Tango Gold is by Tavistock, current leader on the New Zealand Sires Premiership for 2021/22, and in the top ten sires (Australia/NZ combined earnings). This puts him ahead of high calibre stallions such as Zoustar, Fastnet Rock, Pierro and Exceed and Excel. Tavistock’s 10 individual 2021/22 season stakes winners place him in esteemed company, with only I Am Invincible, Snitzel, Savabeel and Written Tycoon siring more. His three Group 1 winners place him equal third with So You Think, Snitzel and Shamus Award, with only Savabeel and I Am Invincible above this quartet. No one should need more convincing that Tavistock is a seriously good stallion!
.
NOW CONSIDER THE FACT HIS DAUGHTERS HAVE ALREADY PRODUCED 5 STAKES WINNERS FROM JUST 33 STARTERS, INCLUDING THE RECENT ATC DONCASTER HCP (GROUP 1) WINNER MR BRIGHTSIDE, TAVISTOCK COULD BE AN EVEN BETTER BROODMARE SIRE!!!
.
Tango Gold’s dam Glitzabeel in by an all-time great stallion in Zabeel, a stallion whose blood is keenly sought after by many a breeder. The peerless Zabeel (by Sir Tristram) was crowned Champion NZ Stallion (Australian and NZ Combined) a record 15 times; Champion Australian Broodmare Sire 3 times. Champion NZ Broodmare Sire 6 times; with his daughters having produced nearly 2,500 winners and 43 Group 1 winners including Dundeel, Humidor, Atlantic Jewel, Advantage, Werther, Samantha Miss, Bonneval, Toffee Tongue, Johnny Get Angry, Tarzino, Ocean Park, and more recently Think It Over, Nimalee and last week’s Queensland Derby winner Pinarello.
.
The Tavistock x Zabeel cross has produced some remarkable results. It could be considered one of the best nicks we have seen in modern times. From just 105 runners, 24 Stakes Horses (22.9%), 13 Stakes Winners (12.4%) and 12 Group Winners (11.4%). The crosses 5 Group 1 winners are Werther, Tarzino (now a leading young sire), Toffee Tongue, Johnny Get Angry, and the aforementioned Pinarello.
.
Tango Gold is a half-sister to Group 1 SAJC Schweppes Oaks (2000m) victress Princess Jenni, a winner of 6 races and over $1 million in prize money. Now a 6yo, you would assume Princess Jenni is about to be retired to stud and will in time add to her family’s stature. And best of all, their dam Glitzabeel is still very much a producer, as she has 3yo and 2yo fillies coming through by successful sires Power and Turn Me Loose, as well as an Alabama Express filly born in 2021, and last season she was covered by last season’s Champion Australian Sire Written Tycoon.
.
If you dig further into Tango Gold’s family, you’ll see her third dam, Group 2 winning 2yo Precious Glitter is by another all-time great in Danehill. And then you’ll note she is a direct descendant of the “Blue Hen” Courtly Dee (US Broodmare of the Year). Their are more than dozen Group 1 winners hailing from her immediate family and include Green Desert (Successful Sire), Covfefe (Champion US 3yo Filly), Yamanin Paradise (Champion Japanese 2yo filly) and Vespa (Champion NZ 2yo). This is a seriously good family!
.
On the racetrack, Tango Gold, was an honest performer, rarely running a bad race. A winner over 2000m, she was also placed on a further 7 occasions, never further back than 4 lengths from the winner. In fact, in her 13 start career, only on one occasion did she finish worse than fifth.
.
Tango Gold is due to foal in early to mid-September to the very promising first season sire Hellbent. A stallion whose yearlings have sold for up to $500,000 and entered the stables of Waller, Maher/Eustace, Team Hawkes, Price/Kent, Snowdens, etc, etc. A stallion not really expected to get 2yo’s, he has already sired 2yo Black Type performers Miss Hellfire (2nd Wyong RC Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic), Warby (2nd Canberra Black Opal Stks), Bohemian Daisy (3rd VRC Ottawa Stks), as well as the City winners Hell Hound (undefeated in 2 starts) and Luna Rocks (won in Sydney by 3 lengths). Like his own sire I Am Invincible, Hellbent could be a seriously good stallion in the making!!!
.
Tango Gold is what we would typically see from the Tavistock stock. Standing at 15.3hh, she has a flowing movement while being very feminine with a lovely head and eye, the covering to Hellbent should be perfectly suited to her. Please note, she has been seen to weave on occasions.
