Description
An extremely well related 4yo mare, by a Champion Australian First Season Sire, and with solid Melbourne form around her. Insaaf is a good-sized well-built mare with plenty of strength and bone.
At 2 years of age at her second start at Sandown, Insaaf was beaten only 0.4 lengths by subsequent Listed Race winner Chequerboard. Just over two weeks later, stepping out on a Saturday afternoon at Flemington, she fought well to finish third behind the high-class Group 2 winner/Group 1 placed Cherry Tortoni.
By doing so, Insaaf defeated last start winner Chequerboard and subsequent Group 1 VRC Victoria Derby Winner Johnny Get Angry. Returning to Flemington two weeks later, in black type company, Insaaf started off well from the inside barrier and looked to be in a particularly advantageous position. Unfortunately, she was held up after the turn and very unlucky to not finish closer in the placings.
As the old saying goes “Good things come to those who wait” and Insaaf did not disappoint. Starting favourite at Kilmore in mid-January 2021, Insaaf travelled very well in third, taking a box seat, winding up at the turn, finishing off with a touch of class, defeating the field by 3.3 lengths over 1600m. Insaaf had four more starts for the Price/Kent stable, before changing hands.
Running for Will Clarken, Insaaf was quick to repay them, with a win at just her third start for her new owners.
Ridden quietly, Insaaf was able to win by an ultra-impressive 3.5 lengths at Strathalbyn in May 2022. She once again was to
prove that on her day she had well-above racetrack ability.
By Pride of Dubai. A brilliant, fast 2YO dual Group 1 winning son of Street Cry. He was Champion Australian First Season Sire in the 2019/20 season. Currently the sire of 14 stakes winners worldwide - 9 of which are fillies.
Stallions which usually are strong filly producers have good records as broodmare sires. His top preforming fillies are Group 2 winner Bella Nipotina and Group 3 winners Sirileo Miss; Splendiferous, while his accomplished males are UK Group 2/ Group 1 Placed Dubai Honour and HK performed (Aus. Gr.3 Winner) Jumbo Fortune.
With his fillies, Pride of Dubai has a top-class record when crossed with Fastnet Rock mares. From 8 runners, he has had 5 winners, including the stakes winner Queen of Dubai, and 2 stakes placed horses in Maha and Dubai Star.
Insaaf brings with her an exceptional female line. The first foal of good looking Aneeda ($1.6 million yearling). Though unraced, Aneeda hails from a wonderful family. By the phenomenal Multiple Champion Sire Fastnet Rock, a sire of over 1400 winners, 189 stakes winners and an incredible $230 million plus in progeny earnings. He is progressing towards overtaking that record as a broodmare sire.
With daughters already producing 827 winners, 63 stakes winners and earnings fast approaching $110 million. Aneeda’s second foal is an unraced 2YO brother to Insaaf named Metaverse. Aneeda also has a 2020 Rubick colt, a 2021 colt by Sooboog. She was covered by multiple Gr.1 winner Too Darn Hot in 2021.
This family is well known for constantly selling at the higher end of the market with over 20 yearlings selling for in excess of $400,000 in the past 15 to 20 years. Aneeda’s dam Perfect Persuasion ($2.6 million yearling) has proved highly successful at stud.
By Encosta De Lago, she has produced two stakes placed mares Lady Sharapova ($800,000 yearling) & Papillion, along with Lighthouse Keeper ($1.6 million yearling) and more recently a $420,000 Russian Revolution filly- to be trained by Gai Waterhouse/ Adrian Bott.
Continuing with this fruitful trend, Insaaf’s third dam Oceanfast has produced three-time Group 1 Winner & Champion 3YO Filly Alinghi and is the granddam of ill fated, fast Gr.1 placed colt Beneteau (out of SP Slice of Paradise). Other black type performers in the family include Extra Olives, Regatta Rebel and High Spirit.
