Description
This is a quality, well-grown, well-related son of proven Group One sire SHOOTING TO WIN. A strong, mature type of colt, he has a great hindquarter and hip and is very well handled.
He is out of the winning STRATUM mare Sravana, whose two foals to race are both metropolitan winners and both are by DEEP FIELD, who of course is the full-brother to this colt’s sire Shooting To Win.
Sravana’s first foal Sure Win Win is a two-time winner at 1650m in Hong Kong and is in the stable of T P Yung, while her other runner, Karli’s Karma, is a three-time winner to 1400m and was Stakes placed on her most recent start for trainer Greg Cave.
The well-related Sravana is a half-sister to the two-time Stakes winner EXIMUS and to Deep Field’s Macau Derby Trial winner DEVAN - HOSTWIN ACHILLES.
On Saturday her two-year-old Zoustar half-brother, Zouson Boy, was a 3.3 length winner at Kembla Grange and looks to have huge upside to come. Sravana also has a yearling half-sister by American Pharoah that was a $200,000 yearling purchase by renowned judge James Bester. Named Vivezza, she will be trained by Annabel Neasham.
This son of Shooting To Win is closely related to Group One Golden Slipper winner MOSSFUN, and to Champion Sprinter ARAMCO.
Yearling colts by Shooting To Win have sold to $170,000 in 2022, while the progeny out of Sravana have sold to NZ$240,000.
On Saturday Shooting To Win sired his seventh individual Stakes winner when CENTREFIRE defeated the fast-finishing Maybe The Best in the Listed Gai Waterhouse Classic (1200m) at Ipswich.
This season Shooting To Win has also sired the Group One WFA Stakes winner MASCARPONE, Bernborough Plate winner KUBRICK, Hinkler Handicap winner RANGES, plus the Stakes performers Residue, Dom To Shoot, Shooting For Gold, Mystery Shot, Good and Proper, Majestic Shot, Fatale Femme, and Tailleur.
There have been three runners bred on the same Shooting To Win/Stratum cross as this colt and all are winners; namely the metropolitan winners Riverside's Cash - Man Star (H.K.) and Explosive Quality, and the multiple winner and metropolitan-placed Grinzinger Express.
This colt was scoped on the 17th June 22 and is a Grade 1. see attached report. Inspections and vet checks welcome.
