Description

Roaring Thunder is a lightly raced highly promising Class 1 son of Sebring.

Roaring Thunder was a very impressive winner over 1006m In a Showcase Maiden at Grafton at his first NSW start.in February this year. In this race he settled well back and made great ground to win running away. The RacingNSW Longines timing system recording his final last 600m at an amazing 32.77.which was easily the fastest for the 104 runners on that day.

He was then third at Grafton 1220m, with the winner , second and fourth horses from this race all being subsequent winners almost immediately.

Based on the strength of these runs the decision was made to spell the gelding for a short break and set him for the rich Grafton July Carnival.

Up until last Friday that plan was going along smoothly with Roaring Thunder having run third in a strong 940m trial at Grafton on June 11 in very quick time.

Unfortunately Roaring Thunder suffered a Bleeding Attack on Friday and is now barred from racing for 3 months.

Whilst EIPH is clearly an issue Roaring Thunder is in our opinion sound in every other way, if you wish to arrange an independent veterinary inspection they are indeed welcomed.

Prior to the incident on Friday the gelding was never treated for or trained as a bleeder as there had never been any indication EIPH was an issue.

As Roaring Thunder is raced by a large group of owners who now have differing views on how to best proceed trying to balance his ability against his ban the decision has been made to offer the gelding for unreserved sale.
