A winning full-sister to Group 3 winner HEAR THE CHANT.
Speak Softly ran second on debut as a 2YO behind subsequent Group 1 winner Bella Vella and was a dominant 3.75L winner over 1300m at 3.
She is by Victoria’s leading sire NICCONI and is a half or full relation to 7 winners, including – HEAR THE CHANT (Group 3 winner, 5 wins & $382,350), WALK THE TALK (5 wins), BULLS ‘N’ BEARS (4 wins), SILENT RAGE (4 wins) etc.
Her dam QUITZER (covered by Shamus Award in 2021) is a metropolitan winning 2YO and her 3-time winning granddam, CALM SMYZTER, placed at Group level on 8 occasions, including the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes.
This is an active family with daughters on the pedigree page having been covered by the likes of Shamus Award, Anders, Wootton Bassett, Ribchester, Yes Yes Yes & Lonhro during the 2021 breeding season.
There is plenty of upside here, as Hear The Chant’s first foal SCREAM (by Zoustar), who sold for $350,000 at the Easter Yearling Sale, won a recent 2YO trial in June by 2.88L for Michael Freedman. She also has a Zoustar yearling filly, Justify weanling colt and is in foal to Shamus Award.
Speak Softly is the dam of three foals herself – an unraced 2YO Rubick gelding named Read My Lips (ran 2nd in jumpout March 2022), Thronum yearling filly and Pride Of Dubai weanling colt.
She is an excellent breeder, having had three foals from her first three years at stud, she foaled on 17/11/21 and missed to All Too Hard from her one and only December cover last season.
