Description
This filly is out of the sprint winning mare in UTZON (pictured), and a direct descendant to Australian and International Horse of the Year, MIGHT AND POWER.
Her Dam Sire, Charm Spirit, is a very proven and successful sire. From a limited number of crops, he currently holds a strong AUS/NZ 5.9% Stakes winners to Runners percentage. He is the sire of 9 SW, 6 GW including Australian Stakes / Group horses FASCINO, SANSOM, KIRWAN’S LANE, CHARMMEBABY, HONORABLE SPIRIT etc.
This filly is from the well known ‘The Oprah House family’, commonly known to leave the white progeny from the leading New Zealand Stud Farm of Windor Park.
This fillies’ bloodlines provide a double cross of the legendary Sire in ZABEEL. This mating cross has provided G1 winners such as PINOT (VRC G1 Oaks), PIERATA (G1 All Aged winner, 4X G1 placed) and of Group winners ONLY WORDS (G2 BRC The Roses) & ZAYYDANI (G2 Matriarch).
In his first crop of yearlings offered, Grunt fillies have been very well sought after. Selling up to $300,000 and averaging $150,000 (12x service fee) at the 2022 January Yearling Sale, Grunt fillies were secured by Ciaron Maher Racing, Danny O’Brien Racing, Australian Bloodstock, Rohan Hughes & Graeme Begg, Michael Hickmott, Bennett Racing, Simon Zahra etc.
“I’ve been really impressed with Grunt’s first crop of yearlings, he was a great racehorse and is putting substance into his progeny,” said Ciaron Maher, who bought the Grunt x Cinematic filly at the 2022 Yearling Sale in January for $300,000. “Grunt really appeals to us, as a Victorian stallion, an outstanding 3-year-old who trained on and provides really good value for us as Victorian and Sydney trainers looking for that more middle-distance style of horse that people are looking to get involved in,” David Eustace.
