Description
This filly is by successful sire TURFFONTEIN (Johanesburg), who, from 294 starters to-date, has a winners to runners strike rate of 61%. Turffontein is the sire of seven individual Stakes winners, including Group Two winners FONTITON and FONTEIN RUBY and Group Three winners WIDGEE TURF and LYUBA.
Royal Anthem is a daughter of YOUR SONG (Fastnet Rock) so this filly is bred on the reverse Fastnet Rock/Turffontein cross that is responsible for producing Group Two MRC Autumn Classic winner PARURE. Fastnet Rock and Turffontein blood nick very well together; seven winners from eight runners with the best of those being the afore mentioned Parure, plus Hong Kong winner Slight Leader and $135,000 earner Falling Waters – all by Fastnet Rock and out of daughters of Turffontein.
Your Song is off to a very promising start as a broodmare sire. His daughters have so far had just two runners and both are winners, namely The Real Thing (Real Impact) – a metro winner at two last season (his only start to-date), and Just Super (Super One) – a winner of two of his three starts to-date, he was runner-up last season on debut at two.
