Description

There are not too many more reliably classy stallions around than Magnus - the oh so well related (a Flying Spur half-brother to the dam of Black Caviar) G1 Galaxy winner who was competitive with the best sprinters of his era.

Always popular with breeders, owners and trainers, Magnus has done a superb job at stud. Boasting an outstanding 72% winners-to-runners strike rate, he has been well represented by 25 stakes winners including the tough Gr.1 winners Streets Of Avalon, Malaguerra, Magnifisio and Great Shot.

Another 29 of Magnus' sons and daughters are stakes placed whilst a further 133 are metropolitan winners - meaning that over 38% of his progeny to race are at least city class! And don’t forget Front Page - winner of this years $2 Million Dollar Kosciuszko in Sydney.

With progeny earnings in excess of $72 million, Magnus passes on his own strength and soundness - noting that 12 of his 25 stakes winners have won AT LEAST nine races. And they are adaptable too, his black-type progeny successful over a variety of distances between 900m to 2400m.

Magnus fares a bit better as a sire of colts and geldings than he does of fillies and mares - 18 of his stakes winners being male; 74.8% of his male runners being winners vs 68.5% of his daughters.

This colt is the first foal for the lightly raced mare Aravina - a $150,000 Magic Millions graduate who was placed behind the subsequent multiple stakes winner Bandersnatch at her Newcastle debut; injured at just her second outing.

Aravina is a daughter of one of the mighty Lonhro's best sons - the five times Gr.1 winner Pierro. Well and truly proving his worth at stud with his 33 stakes winners (seven at the elite level), he has made an impressive start to his career as a broodmare sire... just nine runners so far, four being winners including the Gr.1 Golden Rose winner Jacquinot and the stakes placed Karman Line.

Aravina is out of the Gr.2 Magic Night Stakes winning Danehill Dancer mare Indian Ocean whose stakes placed city winning grandam Fabled also foaled the Gr.3 Craven Plate winner Lorne Dancer. This is a family that has been producing quality performers for generations, its other members including the big race winners Exceller, Capote, Bob And John, Heavenly Body and Hidden Talent.

Bred on the same Magnus/Sir Tristram cross as the stakes winners Great Shot (Gr.1 Railway Stakes), Enbihaar, Princess Of Queens, Prince Of Brooklyn, Magnapal and The Alfonso, this colt would be a great addition to any stable.
