**ON THE MARKET**
Monastery is a 3YO gelding by So You Think, that's had 8 starts for 1 win, a second and 2 thirds.
He's a horse that will improve with age, which is typical of the sire and he still has plenty of maturing to do. He's bred to be good - being out of a 3/4 sister to Everest winner Giga Kick, Alabama Express and Rekindled Interest.
Monastery has shown glimpses of promise - so much so he raced in the G2 Callander-Presnell (formerly Stan Fox Stakes) - finishing 6th behind Golden Mile - with a Victoria Derby start in mind, following the park of Raging Bull the year prior. However he was hampered by race changes due to the wet weather.
Monastery has raced really well at Hawkesbury in particular - however after running well below his best on Sunday - it's starting to become clear his future will likely be better suited to provincial class races. This doesn't suit the large ownership group who pay Metropolitan training fees.
He was checked over by the racecourse vet on Sunday after his below-par performance and nothing was found to be wrong (see stewards report attached). He will likely benefit from a spell before resuming in lower grade.
He should give his new owners a lot of fun on the country and provincial circuit, potentially a Country Cups galloper. Currently rated BM64 in NSW.
